NECROPHAGIST Cancelling More Tour Dates?
February 16, 2007According to Drummerszone.com, German metallers NECROPHAGIST have cancelled three more dates on their "Carving Europe's Epitaph Vol. II" tour. This latest development is a disappointment for Dutch drummer Koos van der Velde, who was supposed to sit behind the kit for NECROPHAGIST as a session skinsman during the entire trek.
About eight weeks ago, regular NECROPHAGIST drummer Johannes Großmann asked Van der Velde to fill in for several tours. Großmann is currently busy studying.
Muhammed Suiçmez, NECROPHAGIST's singer, guitarist and band leader, canceled the tour's first few shows in order to give Koos van der Velde a chance to learn a full set of NECROPHAGIST's complex songs.
During NECROPHAGIST's soundcheck in Berlin earlier today (February 16),the band's leader allegedly decided to cancel previously announced gigs in Leipzig (Feb. 17),Prague (Feb. 18) and Ruzomberok (Feb. 19) and fly in NECROPHAGIST's regular drummer. Hannes Großmann will join the band in Vienna on February 20. Koos van der Velde returned home tonight and is said to be currently looking for projects that take less time and energy and that ultimately prove to be more fulfilling.
At the age of 15, Koos van der Velde participated in the Dutch contest De Grote Prijs van Nederland where he stood out as an exceptional artist and was awarded a drum kit for his excellent performance. In 2005 Koos played drums for Florida-based WYKKED WYTCH, with whom he took part in the No Mercy Festivals 2005 Tour. Van der Velde met NILE drummer George Kollias on that tour and a year later George and Koos did some drum clinics together.
